Reconfiguring Your Wireless Router
Step 1: Gather Your Equipment
Your wireless router.
The power adapter for the router.
An Ethernet cable.
Your welcome letter to determine whether you use Dynamic IP or PPPoE.
A device to configure the router (laptop, desktop, or smartphone).
Step 2: Connect the Cables
Turn off your modem/NBN Box (if you have one) and router.
Use the Ethernet cable to connect the WAN port of your router (often blue or labeled "Internet") to the modem's/NBN Box/Socket Ethernet port.
Connect your computer or laptop to one of the router's LAN ports (usually yellow or numbered). Alternatively, connect via Wi-Fi using the default network name (SSID) and password printed on the router.
Plug in the router's power adapter and turn it on. Turn on the modem/NBN box(If you have one). Wait for the router to fully boot up (usually indicated by a solid power light).
Step 3: Access the Router's Configuration Page
Open a web browser on your connected device.
Type the router’s IP address (If you don't know what is your router's IP address is, click here for instructions) into the address bar and press Enter. The IP address is typically printed on the router label or in its manual.
Enter the default username and password. These are usually
admin
andadmin
or similar, and can also be found on the router label.
Step 4: Configure the Internet Connection
Once logged in, follow these steps:
Find the WAN/Internet Settings:
Navigate to a section labeled WAN, Internet Settings, or similar.Select Connection Type:
Refer to your welcome letter for your connection type (Dynamic IP or PPPoE).
For Dynamic IP:
Select Dynamic IP from the connection types.
Save the settings.
The router should automatically obtain an IP address from your ISP.
For PPPoE:
Select PPPoE as the connection type.
Enter the username and password provided in your welcome letter.
Save the settings.
Wait for the router to connect. You can check the connection status on the router's status page.
Step 5: Configure Wi-Fi Settings (Optional but Recommended)
Go to the Wireless Settings or Wi-Fi section.
Change the SSID (network name) to a custom name for your network.
Set a strong Wi-Fi password (WPA2/WPA3 security is recommended).
Save the settings.
Step 6: Verify the Connection
Disconnect your computer or laptop from the LAN port (if wired).
Connect your device to the Wi-Fi network using the new SSID and password.
Open a browser and check if you can access websites.
故障排除
If you can’t access the router's configuration page, ensure your device is connected to the router and try again.
Reset the router by pressing the reset button (usually a small hole) for about 10-30 seconds if needed.
Reconfiguring Your Modem-Router Combo
Step 1: Gather Your Equipment
Your modem-router device.
The power adapter for the device.
An Ethernet cable (optional, for wired setup).
Your welcome letter to determine whether you use Dynamic IP or PPPoE.
A device to configure the modem-router (laptop, desktop, or smartphone).
Step 2: Connect the Cables
Plug the modem-router into a power outlet using its adapter.
Connect the telephone cable (for DSL) or the coaxial cable (for cable internet) to the respective port on the modem-router.
For initial setup, connect your computer to the modem-router using an Ethernet cable. Alternatively, connect via Wi-Fi using the default network name (SSID) and password printed on the device.
Turn on the modem-router and wait for the indicator lights to stabilize (this may take a few minutes).
Step 3: Access the Modem-Router’s Configuration Page
Open a web browser on your connected device.
Type the modem-router’s IP address (If you don't know your modem-router's IP, click here for instructions) into the address bar and press Enter. The IP address is typically printed on the device label or in the user manual.
Enter the default username and password, usually found on the device label. Common defaults are
admin
/admin
.
Step 4: Configure the Internet Connection
Once logged in, follow these steps:
Navigate to WAN/Internet Settings:
Look for sections like Internet Settings, WAN, or Setup Wizard.Select Connection Type:
Refer to your welcome letter for your connection type (Dynamic IP or PPPoE).
For Dynamic IP:
Select Dynamic IP as the connection type.
Save the settings.
The modem-router will automatically obtain an IP address from your ISP.
For PPPoE:
Select PPPoE as the connection type.
Enter the username and password provided in your welcome letter.
Save the settings.
Wait for the device to establish a connection. You can monitor this on the status page.
Step 5: Configure Wi-Fi Settings (Optional but Recommended)
Go to the Wireless Settings or Wi-Fi section.
Change the SSID (network name) to a unique name for your network.
Set a strong Wi-Fi password (WPA2/WPA3 security is recommended).
Save the settings.
Step 6: Verify the Connection
Disconnect your computer from the Ethernet cable (if wired).
Connect your device to the Wi-Fi network using the updated SSID and password.
Open a web browser and check internet connectivity.

If you cannot access the modem-router configuration page, ensure your device is properly connected and try again.
Reset the modem-router by pressing and holding the reset button (usually a small pinhole) for about 10-30 seconds.
